Yesterday (1-24-26), the world lost Michael Parenti, one of the best English speaking writers and lecturers of exposing anti communist myths and the control that capitalism exerts across media and political systems. All class-conscious people benefited from his analysis as a stark contrast to the watered down, pro western analysis that is usually peddled by western “leftist” intellectuals like Zizek and Chomsky.
Such titles as Parenti’s “Blackshirts and Reds”, “Inventing Reality”, and his famous Yellow Lecture are indispensable materials for global north Communists to understand the conditions we face. “People who think they’re free in this world just haven’t come to the end of their leash yet.” We remember Michael for leading so many of us to the end of our leash, where illusions end and struggle begins.
The Workers Party expresses our condolences to his family, and our gratitude for all those who cared for Michael through his lifelong struggle to educate others. His struggle lives on!
