2024 Election: an inevitable result of capitalist duopoly

The Trump administration represents a clear threat to working class interests. Their platform includes attacks on immigrants, public education, the LGBTQ+ community, and the environment. The Workers Party of Massachusetts stands in opposition to the incoming administration and are preparing to work under this new political terrain. 

The first Trump administration declared war on the working class. Trump spent his first term boosting legitimacy for regressive policies and reactionary politicians; his second term will be spent executing their far-right ideology. We have seen tax cuts for corporations, removing wage protections, preventing worker arbitration through the courts, and we expect to see more in the coming years. 

Donald Trump is not an anomaly. He is a direct result of the rightward-shifting ideologies of the two capitalist parties governing the nation. As the Republican Party descends towards outright fascism, the Democratic Party moves further and further to the right to appeal to a mythological “median voter”– but in reality both parties’ policies only benefit their wealthy donors and abandon the workers they claim to represent. From opening and maintaining immigration detention centers to outright attacks on the LGBTQ+ community, the Democrats have abandoned all minorities except for the wealthiest 1%. 

The liberal wing of the capitalist Democrat-Republican Party proposes that Donald Trump is “unamerican” and doesn’t reflect who we are as a nation. But the history of the US–a country built on slavery, genocide, and the exploitation of the working class–as well as its continued oppression and genocide carried out by the Biden regime, show that Donald Trump’s election is a more honest reflection of the current state of US values. This is exactly what the Workers Party of Massachusetts and the entire workers movement aims to change. We need a political system that stands for the working class. And the Democratic Party is not the answer. They have clearly demonstrated that they are nothing more than an opportunist party seeking to infiltrate working class resistance and direct that effort into fundraising for their bourgeois politicians. 

The Workers Party of Massachusetts stands and will continue to stand against the US capitalist duopoly, against all imperialism. From Plymouth to Palestine, we stand for the liberation of all workers!
